Be fit. Be focused. Be happy.
Sounds good, but what does it mean? This is a phrase that I scribbled on a piece of paper years ago, as a reminder of my priorities. The words are as potent to me now as they were back then. Allow me to explain the thinking:
Be Fit
Being physically fit is the first priority because it lays the foundation for mental clarity and emotional well being. Exercise has been documented to pretty much cure what ails you. It’s also effective preventative maintenance. Bottom line is that it feels good to be in shape. It boosts your confidence and keeps you energized to embrace life in full force.
Be Focused
Staying mentally focused is an essential form of self-discipline if you want to be successful. It is nearly impossible to reach your goals when you’re not focused. That’s why it’s important to find a compelling reason to focus and stay motivated. Bottom line is that it feels good to get stuff done. That sense of accomplishment can create a craving for achievement.
Be Happy
In theory, being happy is a by product of the first two priorities. I challenge you to test the hypothesis. Exercise a little everyday, set some goals and stay focused, and see for yourself just how good it feels. Bottom line is that we can affect our biochemistry to boost our mood and concentration. This allows us to achieve results and gain satisfaction, which makes the heart feel happy.
Yoga is the Key
The results of practicing yoga on a regular basis are nothing short of astounding. It provides comprehensive cultivation of mind, body, and soul. Not only will yoga help you stay fit, focused, and happy, it will transform you into your personal best. Bottom line is that it works. Yoga will meet you where you’re at and take you to where you want to be.
